- Are you speaking for USR in any legal capacity? Are the regulations
- you so stated above recognised by USR as legally binding? If what you
- say is true, then may I remind you that even if the _LAW_ proves
- your point, though I have yet to see an official USR Legal Notice on
- this matter, where GOODWILL is concerned, it would not justifiable
- for USR to abandon its customers for a few lines of legalease.
-
- I do not presume to know the contractual obligations that binds USR
- but I DO expect USR, in the exercise of its contractual obligations,
- to give to the customer the benefit of the doubt and to seek in all
- ways to solve his problems and to provide alternatives when the
- providence of the solution is beyond their powers. To leave its
- customers out in the cold just because it is in USR's interest to do
- so does NOT speak well for the company at all.
-
- If any party is to be BLAMED in such cases, it is the _Dealers_ who
- sold the USR products to customers who they knew would be using these
- products in areas where their usage has not been approved. It should
- be USR's responsibility to monitor its dealers and its retail network
- to ensure that only the right products are sold to the right
- customers. USR should assume the responsibility for finding and
- closing ALL loopholes.
-
- There are ways to do business, and then there are ways to do
- business. If USR chose to _follow_the_letter_of_the_Law_ right down
- to the fine print and do everything by the book, then yes, it has
- very right to tell supporters like me to go to hell and be damned
- with it. _IF_ such were the case however, I am sure many already
- disgruntled USR supporters would see USR's business policies as what
- they are - the maximization of profits while minimizing the trouble
- and screw the customer if he gets into their way.
-
- Whatever the case, I do NOT like to be penalised for buying a USR
- product in good faith and I am sure many others feel the same way. I
- had intended to bring the modem with me when I go over to the US in
- the future, and my purchase was made with THIS understanding and now
- I find myself suddenly and officially stranded.
-
- >Learn something about law.
-
- I do NOT need to learn anything of the Law to know that Legality does
- NOT equate Right. There are many times in life when we should not
- base our decisions on what is legal, but on what is Right.
